#ForeverInspired - Shireen Sandoval, Co-Host Of Deco Drive TV And Creator Of Shireen's Favorite Things
With our #ForeverInspired series we're showcasing fellow bossbabes, wcw's, brands and charitable organizations that continue to motivate & inspire our team and our fabulous crew.
Next up we are shinning a spotlight on entertainment beauty Shireen Sandoval. As the TV Co-Host for Deco Drive TV/WSVN/Channel 7 she has the pulse on all things south Florida and is definitely one to watch. We love the bubbly, fun energy she brings to the screen night after night. Shireen also keeps busy as a BFCA Film Critic and Fashion & Food Blogger. We caught up with the fashionista about what it's really like behind all the glitz and glamour of the small screen. And from our very first conversation we quickly learned that it was her kindness and inner beauty that really stood out above the rest.
Where do you currently reside?
The Magic City (Miami).
Tell us about your kickass career
I’m a journalist who loves to tell a good story. For over a decade, I specialized in entertainment reporting; affording me the privilege of traveling the world interviewing Hollywood’s elite. Now, as a co-host of Deco Drive, I’m on the desk daily, delivering info on film, fashion, food and fitness.

In between I blog, too. From trends to terrific food, I’ve got you covered on ShireenSandoval.com — my blog is called: #ShireensFavoriteThings (shameless plug)....
Do you think it’s important to have a mentor?
Of course! Having someone to respect and admire helps build the all-important career road map, but also developing your own voice, talent and individuality is just as important.
Fave travel destination?
I love going home to New Mexico, but some of the most spectacular places I’ve seen in the world are Russia, Hong Kong and who doesn’t love Paris?
Best part of your day?
Shireen in The Rio Balconette
Best advice for someone wanting to break into the entertainment industry?
If you want to be in my business, you MUST be a great writer! There will always be pretty people. Separate yourself by developing your journalistic style and be curious about the world around you — not just entertainment. Whether it’s what’s happening in Syria or who’s winning an Oscar, knowledge is power and you’ll be a better journalist for it.
What’s the one challenge you didn’t see coming?
Surviving Guillian-Barre’ Syndrome & living my best life with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, which is a disorder of the peripheral nervous system. Getting sick made me stronger and a better person, but some days are still hard.
Must-have fashion accessories?
A great pair of shoes.
Pro tip for keeping up the hustle while also staying balanced?
I think it’s different for everyone, but as a mature woman, I’ve realized it’s the PEOPLE who matter. A job can’t hold you when you’re crying at night and money can’t buy happiness. Find what you love doing and by all means do it with gusto, but never lose sight of the people who matter and remember, always leave what you can’t control behind.
Favorite local hotspot(s)?
My house. Lol. It’s my job to report on hotspots. In my downtime, I retreat and let my boyfriend play bartender and catch-up on my favorite TV shows.
Who are some of your fashion icons?
I love me some Diane Kruger and Jason Wu.
